But either way, when your paint cracks, the metal below the paint is exposed. And when that metal gets wet, it does what all wet metal does. It rusts.
When you wax your car, you can build up that layer of protection again. The wax fills in the small chips and cracks in the paint, creating a protective layer that keeps debris out. What’s more – it’s a waterproof layer. Wax is naturally water resistant, meaning it won’t wash off in the first slush of the year.
That said, it’s a good idea to wax a few times throughout the winter. It does, eventually, wear off, and to keep your car protected a couple good reapplications go a long way.

Question by novatrek: How do I wash my car like the dealerships/pro’s do?
I had an accident recently and had to send my car to the “shop” to have it fixed. (minor stuff) So, I dropped the car off at the body shop. When the repairs where finished and I was called to come get my car, I was astonished when i saw it.
I had to think for a second, “was this my car?”.
Im not sure what products they use but the thing was glistening!!
I have tried waxing it my self w/ turtle wax but the results were no where close to what the body shop did.
What products do you think they use?

I have 4 cars of my own and 2 are sports/show cars. I use Nu finish. I dont’ use a wax because basicly it is old technology and doesn’t last as long. First thing you need to do is wash your car using a heavy amount of soap. Second DRY the car so no water spots are seen. Third compound the car using alight compound. 4th use a wax (opinion) like nu finish or another one show car people use is actually called carwax.
